Generally speaking, why are men more reactionary then women?

I’ve noticed that I seem to have a great deal more in common with women (although not always) than men in regards to politics. Have you noticed that there seem to be more progressive women than men, or is it just the people that I know?

If it were possible, would you have Yahoo ban questions on politics?

This is NOT referring to my own questions, because I usually know better than to venture into politics here.

Having said that, I’m sure regular members of this community have noticed how people get totally unreasonable when it comes to political questions. Though it honestly does seem like it’s one side that gets all radical compared to the other, it can certainly apply to both sides.

So, given my premise that political questions are almost unfailingly just lightning rods for both sides: Should Yahoo ban political questions (if it were indeed possible)?

It seems this would make Yahoo Answers a much more pleasant place to be. PLEASE, be reasonable and non-reactionary in your responses. I have made an effort to word this as neutrally as I could.

Discussion question. Can there in fact be a “far right” in American politics?

I have two thoughts.

First thought, the US is a center-right country so if the political spectrum axis was moved to the center of the US than there would not be a far right, there would only be a right, left, far left, and farther left. So no far right exists.

Second thought, far right means reactionary so, the politics of the founding fathers would be the most reactionary and the farthest right. Considering the Constitution hasnt radically changed and we still favor much of the same politics for examples our individual rights and democracy than reactionary is moderate in the US not making it far right of the US center.

So in my assessment there isnt a far right in America.
But, I need other thoughts and opinions for I have an essay on this subject. Thanks.

Congress is politicising 123, Left is reactionary and playing a loosing battel.Congress is defaming them.?

In politics the Congress party is called -LAMBI RACE KA GHORA. They have full realisation that they cannot remain in power without the support of the Left. Realising this fact they are buying time for preparing for elections and simultaneously damaging the credibility of the Left by engaging them in some sort of a dialogue and pushing them on the backfoot.
The Left parties are in a dilema too. They know that in the next elections they will not be able to retain their present strength in parliament, so they want to some how wriggle out of the impasse. They are on the defensive in every forum of discussion and are damaging their own credibility due to their support to the Congress party.
My question to the Left parties is why are they supporting a self seeking, power hungry, comnunal Congress party and damaging their own image.
Congress all the while is enjoying the dilema in which the Left parties have landed themselves in.

Does YA get you depressed?

I usually live in a bubble where I assume most people think like me. Since I’ve come here I see a lot of what I’d call ‘small minded’ or ‘reactionary‘ thinking. Also, judging by the spelling, sentence strucure and grammar I see many people seem to be ignorant of the basics of our language.

I’m all for a free thinking society as an ideal, but I have been shocked by many of the honest answers people give here.

Vietnam has jailed for up to nine years three labour activists found guilty of disrupting security, after a trial that lasted less than a day, a court official said.

Nguyen Hoang Quoc Hung was given the heaviest sentence of nine years while two others, Doan Huy Chuong and Do Thi Minh Hanh, were each sentenced to seven years in jail, said an official of Tra Vinh people’s court in the southern Mekong Delta.

The maximum penalty for the charge of disrupting security is 15 years in prison.

The official, who declined to be named, did not give further details about Tuesday’s trial.

US-based Human Rights Watch said the trio, all in their 20s, were arrested in February for distributing anti-government leaflets and helping workers to organise strikes for better pay.

Nguoi Lao Dong (Labourers) newspaper said they instigated several strikes in Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai province between last December and February. They were also charged with distributing “reactionary” leaflets in the two areas, the paper added.

Human Rights Watch said Chuong was first arrested in October 2006 after helping to found the United Workers-Farmers Organisation (UWFO), which Vietnam has banned. State media said he was later sentenced to 18 months in jail for “spreading distorted information to undermine the state”.

Sharia law and dreams of pan-Islamic global rule fuel their ambitions. Once again, they seek to fool Western liberals through voicing a litany of perpetual hurts. Like the Nazis who whined about the Versailles Treaty that ended World War I, and alleged maltreatment of Germans in the Sudetenland, for years Islamists harped about American troops stationed in Saudi Arabia, the UN embargo of Iraq and the occupation of Gaza and Lebanon.

But when each complaint was settled, another louder one sprung up; these grievances, it turned out, were pretexts for a larger sense of victimhood, jealousy and lost pride. And appeasement–treating the first World Trade Center bombing as a mere criminal justice matter or virtually ignoring the attack on the USS Cole–only spurred on further aggression.

Islamic fascism is also anti-democratic and characteristically reactionary. It conjures up a past of Islamic influence that existed before the supposed corruption of modernism. Like Hitler, Mussolini and Tojo, who sought to recapture lost mythical Aryan, Roman or samurai purity, so Islamic fascists talk in romantic terms of the ancient caliphate.

Anti-Semitism is a tenet of fascism, then and now. But so is a generic hatred for unbelievers, homosexuals and blacks. The latter are slurred in the Arab media, while homosexuals were rounded up under the Taliban and the Iranian mullacracy.

“Mein Kampf” sells well under its translated title “Jihadi.” Ahmadinejad recently suggested in a sympathetic letter to the German chancellor that the Holocaust was little more than an “alibi” used by the victors of World War II to keep the defeated down.

Even now, it is hard to distinguish the slurs against Jews used in the Middle Eastern media from the venom of Joseph Goebbels’ propaganda. Goose-stepping and stiff-armed salutes at Iranian and Hezbollah parades are conscious imitations of past fascist armies.

Some object that the term “Islamic fascism” is too vague to encompass the differing agendas of diverse groups such as the Wahhabis, Al Qaeda and Hezbollah. But just as racist German Nazis found common ground with Asian supremacists in Japan, so too the shared hatred of the West trumps the internecine rivalries of present-day Islamists.

The common denominators are extremist views of the Koran (thus the term Islamic), and the goal of seeing authoritarianism imposed at the state level by force (thus the notion of fascism). The pairing of the two words conveys a precise message: The old fascism is back, but now driven by a radical fundamentalist creed of Islam.

Others object that fascism conjures up images of past huge armies, and thus exaggerates only a moderate threat from today’s ragtag jihads. But Iran is seeking a bomb far more powerful than anything Hitler had at his disposal. About 2,400 Nazi V-1 buzz bombs in World War II reached their London targets. Nearly 4,000 Katyushas hit tiny Israel in about a month. And the petroleum of the Middle East is the lever by which the Islamic fascists hope to overturn an oil-hungry world.

In contrast, the fuzzy “war on terror” is the real inexact usage. The United States has never fought against an enemy’s tools–such as German submarines or the Soviet KGB–but only against those who employ them. Other groups today use terror, such as narco-dealers and Basque separatists, but this war at this time is not against them.

The real problem is not that “Islamic fascism” is inaccurate or mean-spirited, but that this identification earns such vehement disdain in Europe and the United States. That hysteria may tell us as much about the state of a demoralized West as the term itself does about our increasingly emboldened enemies.

Is all of Satanism just a reactionary religion to Christianity, and Islam?
